Youth flocked the new Ninja Course at Hutchinson Kansas’ Shadduck Park the moment it opened.
The Hutchinson community eagerly awaited the opening of their new Ninja Course, located at Shadduck Park. This Ninja Course was purchased with a Greenfields Ninja Grant, and is available for use by both the Hutchinson community members and the Boys & Girls Clubs.
“I’ve been looking forward to this opening for a while,” said James, a youth member of the Boys & Girls Club who attended the council meeting to vote on which Course Hutchinson would install. Once he finally got to try it out alongside his peers, he eagerly reported back that “Everyone’s having a lot more fun than they did on the old playground.”
Adding a Spider Web Climbing Net to the middle of Greenfields’ Ninja Course 2, this course was customized for the City of Hutchinson. The Course features a variety of obstacles that make exercise exciting. While some obstacles are relatively easy to overcome, others require a bit more practice, encouraging users to increase their strength and agility. Another youth member of the Boys & Girls Club, Will, made his determination known. “I think I’m going to master it,” he said, reflecting the excitement of his peers.
“Obstacles like this help learn life skills such as problem solving, team work, and the sense of accomplishment after you put in effort, practice it, and are able to complete it.”
