Thank you for your interest in science! — Andrew
SIT works great for me! 3x a week. Fueled with protein. Waist and hips have really tightened up. My Sprint portion for 30 seconds is skipping.
I learn so much from Dr Stacy Sims
Thanks Dear!
does fasting help women with PCOS because it limits insulin sensitivity?
Dr pelz expertise is fasting and dr sims expert is fitness and the 2 drs combine info becomes relevant amd makes sense…watch dr pelz podcast with dr sims. It clarifies a lot
Full disclosure at 2 hours, 20 minutes explains a lot. Should have been made known in the introduction.
This was a fantastic listen. As a 54 year old female who resistance trains predominantly, it has given me additional actions to take in my training and nutrition.😊
Watched Dr Argon first and now watching Dr Sims, seems like a complete contradiction. No wonder people ignore science if we are at the end expected to believe what we want. This is very frustrating!
I’m breaking up with mindy peltz 😂
I wish someone would speak about hormones for younger women who've had hysterectomy before age 40. Ovaries are still in place. How do we measure/know?
Doctor Stacy has changed my life. The things she talks about are things I did intuitively in my 20s to lose weight and stay in shape not having her discussions like this. Then over the years I was exposed to all kinds of advice that wasn’t female specific and really fell off and have been stuck now that I’ve been following her advice again the weight is falling off, and I feel great. I’m hesitant to even listen to podcast that aren’t female focus when it comes to health now.
Never seen so informative about womens health talk. THANK YOU! The best is – Dr. Stacy is an amazing example of her own protocols etc. She looks absolutely stunning for her age. I wish us all such health and spirit!
As a woman that's post menopausal this was very informative. Thank you Dr. Sims I am definitely changing my workout Thank you Dr. Huberman for hosting Dr. Sims.
It’s very informative for me as a woman, please make more videos like that. 🎉
Amazing talk my fav topic 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘exciting to complete it I’m in 44min
I’m so glad there is enough data now to know what IF does to women. Especially entering perimenopause. There is so much misinformation based on lack of long term data. Feels like so many experts were saying it was the thing to do-even on this podcast. It works wonders for my husband! Wonders!!!. Intuitively it didn’t seem like I should be doing it but I have! Just didn’t seem like I could eat enough in my window being busy, unless I was downing liquid calories! This interview was so helpful! Thank you AH for doing this interview!
Thanks, this is interesting. I am just wondering if this is a westernised model on eating times, traditions, certain types of food, etc. I feel like it could speak to a general western audience, but does it need to take in account the culture of the global majority, different food cultures, different climates, eating times that goes beyond the western ”correct” breakfast at 08:00 dinner at 17:00 etc?
Just something about these recent research studies and worldviews feels… not complete.
And while I understand the science behind the body and for example, fasting’s disadvantages for women, fasting in non-western countries has a science as well. – doesn’t mean that one is better than the other. It is great though how this highlight the predominant, often male, viewpoint on fasting and fitness that we need to shift, but.. I don’t know, something feels a bit off with for whom and by whom these studies are for, and brought out to the light from a dominant western point of view.
Thanks
I am a 37yo woman who had a hysterectomy (part of the tubes, uterus, and cervix) 2 years ago. I still have my ovaries though. I am struggling with some of these pieces of advice because I obviously don't have my periods anymore, so I cannot track anything from a cycle/period perspective. Any advice?
It’s hard to know who would win in a fight, they’re both really smart and jacked.
Is she talking about schisandra?
Thank you so much for this. 🙏 I need to quit with this stuff though. I have been doing the IF thing for a long time and I just started doing longer fasts of 24-48 hrs regularly. Eating in the morning makes me sleepy, which is not good for my job. I like the break from cooking and cleaning. I don't want to start eating earlier in the day, or more often. It seems like what I've been doing has been working well for me. Maybe I would feel better if I started implementing these practices, I don't know. I do think there are always exceptions to the rule, and I may be one of them. I do have severe pcos and that might change things.
My trainer has told me the same thing about making sure I eat as soon as I wake up and making sure I never workout on an empty stomach and that’s makes so much more sense. I feel so much better and lost alot of fat! (I’m 26 years old)
It is astounding to me that both Dr. Huberman and Dr. Sims are willing to provide this extensive, technical, peer-reviewed science to lay folks to improve their lives. You are both extraordinary and clearly understand the assignment. Thank you for your public service.
What is a good brand of Schisandra and Ashwagandha? I live in Hamilton, NZ.
I realize this was an earlier episode than when you had Alan Aragon, but Sins here says men need protein within 3 hrs of workout, but Aragon says the data actually shows that protein timing doesn’t matter at all- only totally amount.
See me I make better than it
I keep coming back to this episode. Please bring her again
But what does 50g of protein mean? Is it in macros or in total food in – ex. 50g of chicken breast?
I lived heavy, but why do I feel so much better with results running on ketones? Much more clarity and focus as well.
6 minutes in & still listening to promotion 🤦♀️
Thank you. Genuine question as I am women in post menopause, won’t the jumping exercise will cause impact to knee joint? Same question as she mentioned that compound heavy weight training is critical instead of isolated, compound heavy weight training is mostly dumbbell or bats and tends to lose form during heavy weight, no issue during moderate at orange theory. So how to protect the joint issue caused by bad form during compound exercises? Please help
I've been following this lovely lady for a few months now and have implemented quite a few of her ideas. I never used to eat breakfast… thought I was doing my body good. Now I have a spoonful of peanut butter. I've set up a mini gym at home. So 6 months on, other than my blinking Menier's disorder, I haven't felt so good in years. Thank you Dr Sims for giving me back my health and giving me a belief in a future where Alzheimer's won't be a part of me. You are simply the best.
I don't think Dr. Sims works or researches with women of all walks of life; she mainly researches with athletes, already very fit women. I was doing great on my routine, then I listened to her advice and practiced for about 4 months, specifically, eating before a workout, which put me back into a metabolic syndrome state. Don't listen to everything that she says, especially the nutrition part, if you are perimenopausal, not an athlete.
So running marathons would be terrible for women? It’s long and moderate?
Information on women is so hard to find.. Always trying to understand what actually applies to us versus not is the usual way of seeing any/all education. This is information is truly gold! Sadly, i've been doing it wrong for years even though i try to get information from science (including this podcast) in the past.. please keep it coming and thank you for also starting to include womens health!
Also is the Andy podcast going to have stuff geared specifically for women or should i just ignore as it'll be n/a?
If you’ve been wondering why you’re not feeling as strong, motivated, or sharp as you used to, Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks might just have the answers. The book focuses on the power of testosterone and how increasing it can seriously transform your health and mindset. If you’re tired of feeling drained or out of balance, this book offers some solid advice on how to get back to your peak
Not sure who needs this, but if you're tired of dragging yourself through the day, Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks is worth a shot. Every chapter felt like it flipped a switch in me. I’ve got more energy, focus, and drive now than ever before.
if you're scrolling and feel off, read this. i was burnt out, low energy, not myself. found Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks, had zero expectations but man. chapter by chapter it rebuilt me. no hype bs, not fake motivation just stuff that grounds you and resets your system. this book really saved me. wish I found it sooner.🔥
Tried all the hacks. ice baths, preworkouts, even dopamine detoxes. none of it clicked. I felt so tired everyday. then someone dropped Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks in a comment and I checked it out. been locked in ever since. no hype, just clarity. wild how long I was running on fumes.🔥
I felt so drained and tired everday. I tried everything, preworkouts, youtube gurus, morning routines that nearly killed me. none of it hit. then i saw someone mention Testosterone Rewired by David Brooks in the comments and it literally changed my life. Following everything in that book past couple of weeks made me realize I was running on empty for YEARS. wish I knew about this years ago🔥
The polarise training concept is really loosing me. I am in my late 20s trying to do body recompositing and don't know which cardio and when to do it around my 3days strength training. I have a full body, lower body and upper body split, I am trying to burn fat and gain muscle.
Outstanding speaker! More of this please!
Nice share!
Such a powerful episode! Finally, science-backed clarity on how women's training, nutrition, and recovery need to align with their biology—not generic plans. More of this, please.
I gave the IM fasting (16/8) a try for about a year and a half. 16/8 didn’t do anything for me but a quarterly 36-48 extended fast does. I took on Dr. Sim’s recommendations and feel like it is making a difference: most especially sleeping better.
I AM CONFUSED!
This Dr. Says not so much fasting, but Dr.Mindy Pelz is all about fasting…
All the female doctors putting info out there should really clarify a few more things on this topic.
THANK YOU for this video, and for explaining the scientific jargon. This has golden info I’ve been needing but didn’t even know where to start. Thank you for making this free and accessible to anyone. Just amazing
I need more podcasts like this bc I eat good and workout, I count macros and plan my training and I take supplements and drink my water and I look like crap
