When talking about restaurant dishes-they also go for cost so they use the cheapest ingredients possible. At home you can make it with higher level ingredients

Frank's brand is great for condiments, they use a lot of vinegar based sauces, so extremely low in calories.

this is great! i wish more people realized that the BMI is trash, obesity is a construct. just take the time, spend effort into creating your dream meals. it will change your entire relationship with food.

In my case i can live with slightly less flavor if that means i can curb appetite. Im no gourmet, im just a fiend when hungry. So thats my battle here.
Logically my approach is to make sure its damn near impossible for me to overeat evem if i try. Some savory oats with chickpeas and some lean protein on the side i can assure you, if your oats were boiled with water and not milk you can stuff your face till the cows come home, your stomach will scream at you to stop before youve entered a caloric surplus.

I know you probably won't see this, but I wanted to express how grateful I am for this video and the way you broke it down and explained it. It "hit" me in a part of my brain that just clicked, and I created my own "graph" like the ones you showed and then looked at you cook well website and tried a bunch of recipes.

I had gotten myself into this spot where I was stressed and eating fast food all of the time, and prone to making elaborate meals or recipes when I did cook. It was exhausting and I ended up kind of stopping cooking altogether.

There are a lot of factors that went into the way my life has changed, but you were definitely one of those factors. Thank you.

I am not exaggerating when I say that your channel is changing lives for the better. Your method of research, teaching techniques, and comparisons for quality, have taught me so much about healthy and delicious cooking that I am enjoying in ways I never imagined. I am able to look at my pantry and fridge, take stock of what I have, and even at the end of the month when I am crawling to payday, I can cook a healthy and delicious meal using one of your techniques. I hope that your channel and all your endeavors are successful because you deserve to profit from the hard work you do. It truly astounds me every time I watch one of your videos that I am getting all this amazing information for free.

Portion control is the biggest issue for me so I order Gousto, especially when training. It takes the thinking out of meal planning, and suits my body perfectly. Will defo be trying some of your recipes though 👍

I've been over 250lbs for pretty much as long as I can remember. A few weeks ago my friends randomly invited me to the gym, and I went with 'em cuz, hey, why not? I get to spend time with my friends, ya know? I ended up having an ABSOLUTE BLAST. My friends showed me how to lift, they showed me how to do all sorts of different isolation exercises, stretches, etc. Afterwards I asked them if they could help me figure out what to shop for so I can learn how to make actually "healthy" meals, and they have been helping me with all of that, in addition to helping me learn the actual cooking.

Ever since then, I started counting calories as best as I could, I stopped eating things out of bags and from convenience stores, and I go to the gym 3 times a week for an hour. I may have only been at this for a few weeks, but I think you're 100% correct in your assessment about "non optimal" diets and workout routines. I'm not trying to be a bodybuilder nor am I trying to lose a hundred pounds in a year. Honestly, I was put off from fitness and "eating healthy" for a long time because of these extremes. People make it sound like you have to be a marine who eats dry chicken 3 times a day for 10 years to even get any results. They also make it sound unbelievably hard. It isn't hard. Do I eventually wanna look like Jack Reacher? Hell yeah, how cool would that be!? But that's a long ways away and I'm by no means gonna rush, hurt myself, or eat NOTHING but chicken, brown rice, and broccoli for 5 years to get there.

I don't think we should call it "eating healthy", I think the better way to describe it is "eating right". I very quickly learned, from all the stuff my friends were telling me to check out and what kinds of recipes to look for, that I'm looking to maximize a good balance of macronutrients while keeping calorie count as low as possible to maintain a deficit. On days I am specifically working out, I try to squeeze in more protein than anything else. Every other day, I'm trying to keep a good balance of carbs, fats, and protein.

I will admit, sometimes it is difficult to math out the precise number of calories in a meal I've prepared — if I for example make shrimp fajitas, I'm sorry but I am not mathing out exactly how many calories are in all of the strips of peppers I've put in, nor am I measuring out the exact calories in the number of shrimp I've added. I'm cutting up like 3 peppers and cooking a whole bag of shrimp, and I suddenly have enough food to have dinners or lunches for a few days.

I figure a lot of calorie counting, at least in terms of meal prep for LARGE meals, is going to be close approximation and not precise measurement anyway. I used to ignore serving sizes and portioning. When I was doing that, making a lot of food would always spur me into overeating. Now, I often find myself halfway through a 500 calorie lunch and go "I'm starting to feel full, I'll have more if I want it later." So when I make so much food for dinner it gives me enough food for lunches over the next few days? Well, I actually save those leftovers for lunches. I have very specific meals I prepare for breakfasts and sometimes lunch or as little snacks, and those are always exactly measured as it's simple and easy to do so. If my deficit is 1500 and by 5PM I'm only at 500, and so far most of that has come from protein? Well, like you, I know I can basically pick whatever the hell I want from the menu.

Anyway, I don't know if you read comments, but if you do, I wanted to thank you :). Your videos over the years have helped answer a lot of questions I've had about cooking but never tested myself. When my friends started showing me how to cook real meals, I didn't realize how much knowledge I had stashed away in my brain from watching many years of cooking content from people like you.

I make everything I use in my house. I cut off junk food completely. First I don't buy cooking oil, I use tallow oil, coconut oil and avocado oil, all which I make myself. I also rest my own chicken and vegetables. I don't eat meat. Eating healthy is not expensive
