Growing up in the 60s/70s we never knew anyone with a peanut allergy. What happened?

Saturated fats aren't all the same. The 10% of daily caloric intake guideline is simplistic. Cheese and yogurt are healthier than beef.

re #5, is soymilk really in any way comparable to "plant milks?" And gee too, there is an environmental dimension to such comparisons, no? I know, that's not your wheelhouse.

Cow milk is less "healthy" than plant based milks for about 65% of the human population. This has nothing to do with nutrition or processing per se. It is because those 65% are lactose intolerant. So many people disparage plant milks because they see it as some conspiracy against cow milk, when many who drink plant milks are just avoiding dairy because they don't want to spend their evening popping Imodiums and riding the white porcelain pony. I am of Scandinavian heritage. I can drink milk all day long. My wife is of Asian heritage. One bowl of ice cream will ruin her day.

As a type 2 diabetic, I believe the type of fruit makes a huge difference. Apples never cause a glucose spike, but grapes take my glucose through the roof, and raisin could cause me to fall in a coma. Of course, there is always the moderation factor, but just to be clear, I am comparing a cup of fruit.

The thing with giving small children peanuts is that you must not give them whole peanuts because they inhowden into their lungs by accident which clubs at their lungs over time and cam result in death.

20th Century as you said. You make it seem like all the mindset for nutrition from the 20th Century was in error, but you know we had all kinds of good things nutritionally from the 20th Century, most especially the "Four Food Groups" from my school time, besides the predating ones. People were healthier, leaner, and entirely better off in 1950 to 1970 compared to today. Also since you're older than 24, you are a 20th Century man the same as I am!

As a type 1 diabetic you can now track your blood sugars in close to real time. I can see that even large quantities of fruit have very little impact on my glucose levels and my HbA1c levels are excellent despite the fact that I eat a lot of fruit.

The 3rd one is weird, almost feels like a strawman argument. I can think of several other myths involving CiCo that in my observation are way more common than what this doctor said. Like these myths: "Calories in, calories out does not work, it's sugar and insulin", or "Calories in, calories out does not work, it's about ultraprocessed foods".

Saying that "CICO is the most important factor for weight gain" is a myth is just a straight up lie. There's really no way to sugar coat it. Maybe the Dr who said that meant to say that CICO is not the only or most important factor for overall health (which is true). But it is the most important factor for weight — it's just that weight and health aren't the same thing. The Dr who said that is a really poor science communicator and has probably confused a lot of people.

the problem is that even non-fried potatoes tend to be absolutely slathered in butter or bacon or some other incredibly delicious, high-calorie thing. the way i make mashed potatoes, i use almost no butter (mix of skim milk, cottage cheese, and potato boil water to get the texture and flavor good) and yeah its not nearly as fun but its still delicious and very satiating for the amount of calories

Coming across your video having recently looked at plant milk labels because I am trying to (a) cut out soy and (b) change my dairy intake, having learned that the amount of iodine in cows' milk at this point in time is much higher than several decades ago due to more recent dairy farm practices using iodine to keep dairy cows healthy / protected from bacterial infection. I have autoimmune thyroiditis, so keeping iodine at recommended levels vs. too high / too low is my goal. Long story short, I was surprised during my label reading to find how many oils (palm, coconut, canola, etc.) are in plant milk products. If monitoring types of saturated and polyunsaturated fats, plant milks are a hidden source of those oils, as well as soy, carageenan, sugars, etc. Read labels when choosing what to purchase.

On point 2, He makes a good point but the point he makes kinda doesn't have anything to do with calories in vs calories out. Ultra processed foods have low satiety per calorie leading to the need to consume more calories therefore increasing calories in. By focusing on whole foods which are often high satiety, high nutrient, and lower in calories that creates fewer calories in. That being said, if you're trying to lose weight or prevent weight gain and you are sedentary, introducing an exercise program would increase calories out without needing to make any changes to your diet. The problem with people saying calories in vs calories out, even if that is the goal, is that people often equate this to eating less food but in practice, often times people eat more food when they emphasize whole foods but because of fiber and water content this equates to eating fewer calories. So, I agree with you that his point isn't arguing against calories in vs calories out, that is not a myth it just doesn't always translate for the individual into effective changes resulting in the desired outcomes.

This channel is a revelation. Information based on real scientific evidence.
I do have a question. About "ultra-processed" foods. Oven chips are often quoted as ultra-processed. I buy a potato , boil it, cut it into chip shapes and fry them a little. Then i freeze them. Later, i put them in the oven to cook. Is that ultra-processing? The oven chips i buy contain potatoes, sunflower oil. Thats it. Now, chips may not be the healthiest of foods ( i eat them infrequently) but i dont understand the uktra-processed label. Compared with sausages and bacon, the level of processing is small, but we never hear of meat-based products as being ultra-processed.

Ugh these idiots pushing this anti CICO nonsense kills me. It’s why so many people think they’re overweight not because they’re overeating calories, but because of some other unrelated nutrient myth nonsense like a slow metabolism, or because they’ve been eating too much processed food. You can eat all the “whole food” in the world, but if you douse it in olive oil and other calorie dense ingredients you’re still gonna gain weight.

Cow's milk protein is mosyly casein which increases cancer risk. In the U.S. cattle also has Bovine Leukemia Virus. Only 5% of infected cows show clinical symptoms. 95% of the infected do not show symptoms; they survived to ne milked and slaughteted for meat. The virus has been found in women's breast milk. It survived pasteurization. That does not necessarily make plant milk healthy. Asian manufacturer have been producing soy milk with nothingbut soy and water the way it has been made for thousands of years. 11 grams of protein per serving. No additives. Not fortified. No added sugar. Delicious.

Quality calories is the difference between weight loss plateau at 1200cal/day or still losing weight at 3000cal/day mostly driven by BMR and the way the body regulates it Which is an incredibly complex topic.

Found this video! Great work ❤. I reacted though to your comment on ”leucine seems to be important.”
Im curious to what that means? Important for muscle growth or important period?

I’ve recently heard of leucine being something you want to keep low – for longevity.

Not like – cut it out – just what you normally would get from plants. The info comes from ”How not to age” and I don’t remember if it is phrased as definitive or not.

Weight itself is calories in, calories out…general health is quality over quantity (without excess caloric intake). If one eats 4000 calories of just whole foods, he/she will gain weight (not adjusted for exercise of course).

Regarding the CICO argument: could there be additional benefit achieved through fasting, say 24 hours, due to the factor of more autophagy kicking in, particularly in combination with cardio/RI training? Using this method – which is admittedly tough – I have lost around 17 kgs in 9 months. My question is – was this just due to reduced calories or did. autophagy play an additional role?

If you get 20-30 mins with a doctor you are lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it). In the UK NHS patients struggle to get face to face appointments and if they do the time allocation is max of 7 mins, shorter if they can, and you can only talk about ONE issue even if all your issues are connected (from a natural viewpoint as nothing in the body works alone).
Nutrition is not complicated. What has made it complicated is the lies we have ALL been told, mainly backed by big corporations/wealthy individuals in their paths to profit. Prevention and/or getting people healthy doesn't par well for profit, does it?
Yes, I do agree, far too many people become “experts” with virtually NO real training/research/study/or knowing anything of how the body works. The world is full of so called experts in all areas of life. Ego rules often.
Every aspect of living on planet earth has been corrupted and poisoned to some extent. Toxicity and Deficiency are the root of all dis-eases. Pretty packaging, shelf placement, amusing adverts, media coverage, or expert advise or view, do not make a food/commodity healthy.
The human body is both complicated and simple. It started off quite simple – clean natural air/water/soil/nutrient dense food/organic/appropriately feed etc. It has become complicated because all these things have changed for the worst. People no longer have any clue what they are eating let alone what they should eat. And, NONE of the mainstream experts help in any way because they are all biased to which ever producer/organisation/bankster they are associated with. If one is trained/brainwashed/have to learn to pass exam/enter the profession to earn big money, then the lies continue until the unknowing believe them too.
After years of being in natural health, solving many health issues (mine and others), I can honestly say virtually everything any big/controlling body puts out is false. Plus, there are too many self professed experts far too ready to “help/treat” everyone. Their advice may be helpful, but nothing suits everyone as we are all INDIVIDUAL !
