O.M.F.G did you read ‘ Secret to Selling Anything ‘ by Harry Browne you said somethings that he said in his book 😮
What has stood out for me in all you’re saying is to love the person at the other end just as yourself ❤
Good advice
I'm looking at switching from selling insurance to medical devices. This video has been helpful. Thank you.
Hi! I am a new listener and love your perspective. I am not exactly a salesperson, but I am a marketing manager, so my job is to make our team's jobs easier. Any tips on how what has made the most difference in your experience?
What camera do you use?
Can you make this video in Hindi ?
5 years in spine with a top 3 company, 4 of which ive been developing a territory from $0.
1st year to 299k.
2nd year to 402K
3rd year to 294K (lost 1 surgeon to relocation)
4th year ontrack for 300K (lost 2 surgeons to relocation and picked up an account do to previous rep leaving)
the waves are real folks. the opportunity in a developing territory is REAL. but damn do you learn a lot. I came here with nothing. In fact, a couple surgeons who had previously been users years before me, had a bad taste left in their mouth after very poor consistency with representation. the last 4 years, ive been put through the ringer. it reminds me of boot camp but a boot camp that has lasted 4 years.
I get the cases noone wants, 1 level ACDFs, last minute add ons requesting the hardest sets to find, with the closes neighboring territory 1.5 hours away. Low consignment on hand because the lack of turns. Ive scrapped and mended the hell out of these relationships for 4 years. I have taken a single 4 day vacation in 4 years. I have been available outside of maybe 1 hour a day to pick up the phone within the first ring. Ive sacrificed my personal life for the opportunity to scale my business, build trust with surgeons, exceed all service expectations, etc.
After 4 years of grinding, recent developments on the corporate side, a large restructuring has ended up with me having to conceding my tenure to a more senior rep with signifcantly more revenue. Nothing set in stone yet but I will likely become a glorified associate with the experience of a seasoned spine rep.
Sadly, the company that gave me my start will likely become a past employer. I have to consider other options.
My advice to anyone looking to sell in the OR. BUCKLE THE FUG UP. get ready to be a surgeon advocate, not a company advocate. sell yourself, not the product. when things out of your control change, you want the surgeon to choose you becuase they cant do their job without you. NOT the implant/instruments.
Wow this is great, love your perspective.
Oh man you are the best!! I’m currently a rep for a healthcare company and I love your wisdom! This was very valuable and has added so much value to me personally in this 1 video! Im thankful that I came across your videos.

I’m new to listening to you. I literally just found this video because I’m trying to get better at my job as a medical device sales person. I come from the world of personal training (14yrs). I switched 1.5yrs ago & it’s been a real learning curve. I’ll be following you. Thanks for putting out this content. It really helps.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom👍🏾
Appreciate the “free” learning and the time you take in making videos! 😃 Relationship building (and humble selflessness) is so important and seems to be a lost art but I would guess that as we build relationships and trust our returns on time investment will have great returns!
Hey Jacob! I hope your day was busy and fulfilling. Thank you for consistently putting out content for people before and once they land the job. I was wondering how you gained a sense of direction for your career. I’m in the industry and love my specialty but want to plan ahead for where I want to be in a couple years but am struggling with a direction to go. If you have any insight on your decision making process, I’m interested to hear it. We are definitely in an industry overflowing with opportunity.
